Gränsö/Björkö.

Only 10 minute boat ride from Arkösund, the island of Gränsö is now joined together with Björkö and Aspö. On Björkö the old seaman’s churchyard is well worth a visit. Hire a rowing boat and take a trip along King Valdemars sailing channel between Aspö and Hästö. There are a number of cottages on the islands,  built in the 1950’s and owned by one of the Trade Unions mainly intended for use by their members. Tel Nr 0125-200 82, 070-585 66 37.
Arkösund.
Arkösund is a summer idyll and the gateway to many of the islands. It offers the visitor all manner of services, including guest harbour, camping, swimming areas, restaurants, pub, hotel, shops, chemist, parking facilities, bus 440, boat and car station and much more. This island, once a pilot station, lies only a 5 minute boat ride from Arkösund. The old pilot station has been renovated and offers conference and overnight facilities used by the Swedish National Maritime Administration.

A small archipelago community dating back to 17th century whose inhabitants have, since the 1960’s, made their living by fishing, farming and sea-faring. In order to survive on the islands, it is necessary to be versatile and prepared to turn one’s hand at many diverse jobs as can be seen here. The islanders run a small tourist operation which includes a café for private parties, boat tours etc. The visitor is very welcome to enjoy strolling amongst the hills, fishing and swimming.

Harstena.
Man has lived on this island since 1543. The island is famous for its well- preserved community where the islanders made their living from seal culling. Nowadays the visitor can enjoy the locally smoked fish, overnight facilities, a bakery, a restaurant and if the weather allows, light refreshments outdoors.
